FlickrFan Event: MSE Frelard (Fremont/Ballard) Stroll on Super Sunday

February 3, 2010

Seattle Flickrites

Need something to do on (Super Bowl) Sunday?

Sunday the 7th come for a photostroll of Frelard; that’s
the area between Fremont and Ballard. I was thinking of the
area that runs under the Ballard Bridge, down behind the new
Trader Joe’s, along the water, down to Fred Meyer’s. Give or
take.

If your not familiar with this area, it is still represents
"old" Ballard and Leary Way neighbourhood. The area is still
mainly industrial with both working and non-work buildings.

Lets meet outside the old Maritime Pacific brewery on NW
Leary and 15th Ave NW at 12:00. (That’s just West from the
Ballard Bridge.) From here we will head South West for a few
blocks and then turn back East towards Trader Joe’s. From
there, turn South towards the water and then continue South
East towards Fred Meyers. From Fred Meyers, it’s anyone’s
guess!

This stroll is open to both film and non-film!

On a side note:

Before the stroll I will be attending the Swedish Pancake
breakfast at the Swedish Cultural Center on the East side of
Queen Anne on Dexter Ave. As not to overwhelm the Swedish
Club I’m going to set a limit of 10 peeps for the breakfast,
mainly due to limited seating. Seating availability is
unpredictable and we may not be able to all sit at the same
table. There is a thread already on Flickr. If you would
like to do the breakfast, let me know on the thread. There
are just a few spots left!

The pancake breakfast is $8 cash. We’ll meet at 9:45 just
inside the main doors. There’s a Swedish door guy at the
entrance at the bottom of the stairs.

Swedish pancakes are flat like crepes, but a bit heavier.
They roll them up and put whipped cream and strawberry
and/or lingenberry (sp?) sauce on them. (All 3, a Swedish
Sunday 🙂 The Swedish Club makes them once a month as a fund
raiser for the Cultural Center. For $8 you get 3 cakes and a
slice of ham and a 2nd ticket to go back for two more cakes.
There is coffee and juice as well. It’s funky and filling
and the cakes (IMO) are yummy.

And of course Pancakes are totally optional! If you’re just
down for the stroll, great! We’ll see you at Maritime at
noon.
