I suddenly felt the need of posting something today, so I rapidly processed this image (slight processing, though) and posted it.
This photo was taken in Calpe, Spain, during my first time shooting portaits. Rena is an excellent model -and girlfriend!- and it was pretty simple to take better-than-expected pictures of her.
We took a sunbath for just one hour but seems it was enough time to get our skin burned. I tried to get rid of that redish tone on her skin using selective desaturation but gave up. Still need more practice!

Btw, I’ve recently changed my approach to flickr. I intend to use it as a tool to learn, regardless of the number of comments I get. I’d like to read comments in which you express your opinion: what do you like about this photo? what would you change? what do you feel when looking at it? That is the type of comment I leave in other people’s photostreams and thus it’s the type of comment I’d be greatful to receive.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Edited: yaaaay! My first explore! What did I win? ;-) Thanks Eva for letting me know!

Audi Q5 2.0TFSI

The Gaslight Anthem played at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH on 03/30/09. These guys have a ton of energy and really get into their set. They have been getting a lot of air time on the local radio station with their hit song “59 Sound”. They were a great band to photograph since they really showed lots of emotion during the show. The crowd was going crazy for them and a few people did some crowd surfing. I didn’t take any pictures of that for some reason. There was more security in the photo pit for this show than for any other I have been to. They grabbed a few different people and pulled them over the barrier during the first 3 songs when I was shooting. It was pretty intense. A good ways through the set they played a cover of “The Replacements” song “Left of the Dial”. This rendition was awesome and was the first time I had ever heard any band cover “The Replacements”. I have to say that this cover was probably one of the best I have ever heard. His voice was spot on. Grab a ticket to see these guys if they come through your town.

2 softboxes left and right with the left one just powered up enough to take out the heaviest of the shadows.

Pretty much straight out of the camera, except for a LOT of photoshoppery SOMEWHERE in the image. I’m not telling where. It isn’t anything BIG like a head change or anything, but it DID need altering.

guesses?

The July/August 2007 issue of Archaeology Magazine features a four-page article about Graffiti Archaeology. It’s by far the most in-depth article anyone has ever written about the project, with tons of images, and interviews with real archaeologists to get their take on it. I could not possibly be more proud. This issue should hit the stands sometime in June.

Thanks to everyone here on Flickr who has contributed to the project so far!
